MBPro that is(intel).

Today I downloaded and installed CocoaSuite.. mainly for the mouse gestures in Camino. It seems to me that Camino is about the best browser around for osx. I've tried them all, Safari, Opera, OmniWeb, Shiira, Flock,Firefox(sucks for OSX!) and settled on Camino, it's really good, works well and smooth.

After installing CocoaSuite I'm able to go forwards, backwards, close tabs etc.. all with the click of my right mouse button, very cool indeed! I have my middle mouse button setup to do Expose All Windows, easy task switching, I like this.

I've been trying to play .wmv files encoded using the WMV3 code. On the G4 Mac it was fine, I did it using Flip4Mac, worked real well. I used to use Flip4Mac as the codec and the appliation NicePlayer as the actual player. Nice Player I think is excellent, so simple and works well, can jumps forwards backwards etc without hassle. A lot of player if you move forwards etc they pixelise bad! I also checked out the new VLC player and Mplayer, they do look quite good also. I think for simplicity I'll stick with NicePlayer. I found a hack to install the Flip4Mac codec under rosetta which works but is a bit slow. i've emailed the Flip4Mac people and they said a Intel version (universal) is due out this week! I'm GOING to get it asap!

As I'm writing this I'm listening to iTunes, and making use of the iTunes controls in Butler,, very cool! no need to switch windows or anything, best I have come accross.

Oh yeah, I also found a way to MINIMIZE ALL windows under OSX!!! - I did this using Butler. I now have both a keyboard combination and an icon for minimize all, works a treat. I highly recommend butler. It is a little daunting at first and take a little playing with to understand, but once you do it's well worth it. I used to use QuickSilver for application launching etc, now I just use Butler.

urls from Today's post..:
CocoaSuite : http://www.cocoasuite.com/
Camino : http://www.caminobrowser.org/
Butler : http://www.petermaurer.de/nasi.php?section=butler
Flip4Mac : http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm
NicePlayer : http://niceplayer.indyjt.com/

If you have problems with doing anything I have mentioned here just e-mail me, I've got no idea if anyone is reading this blog, or, leave a comment and I'll respond.

Disabling speakers in bootcamp!

well I have hit a slight problem with my MacBookPro .. I boot into Windows, using bootcamp. I start up my flight sim program and want to listen to the speakers on the earphone versus internal speakers. I plug in the headphones and the internal speakers still work, they're not disabled.

Quite frustrating really.. I think I might have found a fix here..
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=501696&tstart=0

I'm off to reboot to see if the fix actually works!
